Looking back

Today has been a day for reminiscing on the past. I was going through some old boxes today trying to clean up some things and had a trip down memory lane. Old love letters from people I have almost forgotten about and pictures of me that I have almost no memory of ever being a part of.

It is pretty crazy how quickly you can forget entire portions of your life but it just seems to happen. You absorb too much new information and the past just fades away.

In any case an attempt to install some retro games on my laptop somehow tyring to figure out if livejournal was still around and then trying to figure out if I still knew my password. It turnds it does, and i did. So since we are the nostalgic kick lets keep this going and throw out a warm hello to anyone who may still be subscribed to this blog. I hope you are all doing fantastic!

My life has had its ups and downs but overall I feel like I have more positive momentum in my favor than negative which is a good feeling to have after all this time. Anyway, just to extra weird I also tried to see if my old Myspace still existed and the account was there but I had to re-create it from scratch...

Farewell Livejournal...

I have made a decision, and I am going to stick with it. I am officially leaving Livejournal forever.

It has been 7 years since my first post on this site, and boy how things have changed. I was in High School then and this whole internet thing was still pretty neat. There are so many memories here that I will cherish forever. Livejournal has been a source of solace for me in the past and I am sure it continues to be such for many of you still here.

However I have moved on. I have grown up. I still appreciate this site for what it is and what it has given me but it is time to move on.

I just don't have the time or attention span to maintain an online presence in as many places as I do anymore.

With that said, I will keep this account open, all of the posts will still be here and if anyone chooses to comment them I will still get an email notification and reply.

If you wish to continue to follow my adventures in this crazy life of mine you can find me on facebook or just stop by my home on the web.

I will be going through these old posts and putting some of the highlights in my green-glasses.com site. So keep an out for those. And thanks for all the memories, I love you guys who have followed me and been my friend here. I hope you all are doing great :)

Sticky Note Heaven...

Jeff's Computer

So back when I worked at Skory Autosound we had this terrific boss named Jeff. Jeff had this undying hatred of all things sticky notes. This led to the picture above. That is Jeff's computer covered in various sized sticky notes that were placed there after he left work one day. If memory serves me right each note had different phrases on them. I can't for the life of me remember what any of them said but I do remember this being a rather fun memory.

The Most Terrifying Shed Ever...

So I said I was going to do it and I was not kidding.

This photo is of my little sister Teddy as she is about to walk in to the shed. I was at my Mom's house I am thinking sometime in the summer. My two friends Joe and Jon Brandt were both with us as well. For some reason my mom thought we should show them the camper that we have in the Shed being stored. We didn't have a flashlight at the time and it was very dark out. I was using my camera's flash to light the way. Somehow the entire event was very creepy. None of us wanted to go into the shed in the dark, I have always been a little afraid of the dark and that shed at night is a pretty scary place. In the end it turned out to be sort of a daring contest trying to get each other to go in first. Teddy was obviously the one who manned up and went in.

That is the story how I remember it. It could be totally wrong, but I think that is just about how it went.

I was just now going through a bunch of my pictures on my computer, and I realize how much every single picture has a story. Not that every story is really all that meaningful but when I look at the pictures I imagine myself telling some imaginary person in my head the story behind it.

I have been thinking for a while of getting back into this whole blogging deal. I just don't have the motivation to do it. I am thinking though of finding old pictures, posting them here and telling the story behind them. You might not like the stories, they may not be interesting to anyone but the people in them. Just getting them out though will make me feel little bit better.

Seeing if this Livejournal app on my phone works...

I sometimes wonder why I even post to this ancient site anymore. I realize more and more that every time I do I seem to get far more attention to my posts on facebook than I do on here.

I could just remove the middle man and post straight to facebook, but then I feel like I would be throwing away the countless years I have spent here. Then again I did throw away the countless years I spent at GreatestJournal considering my journal there was deleted.

Dying sites delete things when they die. How long will it be until livejournal dies? Should I be worried about my journal leaving this world forever? I suppose I could back it up with one of those handy archival applications.

It is New Years Eve today, the end of another decade is upon us tonight, to me New Years always just feels like another day though. I have never found myself getting too caught up in the idea of it. According to popular sources we only have but two years left to live life on this planet. Once again the end of all civilization is close at hand!

The Issue with Time Travel

There are tons of science fiction stories that use time travel as a storytelling element. They are all completely unrealistic in their approach to the actual science behind the idea of traveling through time and before I begin I would just like to state that I recognize this.

There is one major issue that I see with almost any science fiction time traveler. They always end up in the same spot!

I mean, just think about it. The earth doesn't stay still, the sun is not stationary, neither is the galaxy. Somehow when people travel through time they also travel through space at an alarming speed. The earth has never been in the same exact spot in space as it has ever been before everything is in a constant state of motion. If I stood anywhere on earth and time traveled almost any amount in time I would suddenly find myself longing for some atmosphere very quickly!

Now of course if you were time traveling with a space ship, this would not be as big an issue. You would however have to predict where cosmic bodies would end up being in the time you are traveling to and make sure you pick a spot that is devoid of substance. Imagine the mess you might create if you time traveled and ended up at the center of a mountain. I am not even sure how solid matter would react to that sort of instant force I don't think it would be very pleasant though!

Just a few things to keep in mind as my fellow mad scientists out there work laboriously on bending the fourth dimension to their will!

9/2/09 - Sitting in your car...

When I walk to the bus stop I generally walk through the center of the Frandor parking lot. Mostly because it is the most direct path to the stop.

I have been noticing something strange lately. There seems to be at any given time during the day between 5-10 people just sitting in there cars in the middle of the Frandor parking lot.

They are all dispersed throughout not in a group. The cars are almost never running and they are just sitting there.

I have seen this happen plenty of times before at Skory. We get a few customers a day who will just pull in, stop there cars and just sit in them for about 20 minutes. Usually at Skory they are on the phone at least. In Frandor they just sit. No phone, no ciggarete, just enjoying the view of Frandor from within the confines of there vehicle apparently.

I may try my whole life to figure out why people think the way that they do. The more I try to figure it out and the more I notice of the world around me. I dont think I will ever understand people.

This world is a strange place full of mystery.
